I could hardly wait to share the art for this year’s Michigan Basset Rescue Waddle logo, the original Waddle. For the non-Basset folks a Waddle is a big fund raising get together for Basset Rescue. Picture Girl Scout Mom’s and the cookie table outside your local grocery store and a 3K walk for the cure of something only no cookies and the Bassets are doing the walking, well some are riding in wagons.
Basset parents come from miles around, some come all the way from the two coasts, to take over an unsuspecting town’s spring parade, waddle through town (yep that’s what they look like) and have a big picnic with a Pawction of the coolest Basset stuff you can’t live without. A big time is had by all and they raise much needed funding for the year to rescue abandon and ill Basset Hounds and place them in their forever homes.
The theme this year is the Wizard of Oz. My job was to sort through the photos of the two dogs who would star in this year’s logo and be featured on the official T Shirt, and turn them into Munchkins. The pretty little girl on the left in the flowerpot hat Cristina Brookshire’s very first rescued Basset Sadie Lady who now resides at the Bridge. The handsome young man in the Munchkin Guard hat is Bernie Adamich.
